SOMI Fine Art Gallery is an artist owned and managed gallery at the heart of Flemington’s emerging arts district, south of Mine Street. The gallery is focused around one of the last three beehive kilns in New Jersey, all of which are found at the Stangl Factory. Flemington’s premier artisan heritage building, the Stangl Factory has been sensitively restored and updated to house a community of potters, a fine restaurant, SOMI Fine Art and other artists and artisans. Just up the street from Liberty Village Premium Outlets, SOMI is a short walk from Flemington’s historic Main Street. Unique display spaces for art and fine craft are available throughout the gallery, both inside and outside of the Kiln, creating a unique visitor experience.
“SOMI means simply South-Of-Mine (Street). But as life has it, in Japanese it translates as Elements of Beauty, 素美. In that sense we perceive SOMI as an artist collaboration where an eclectic selection of art works are offered to our patrons in a space that in itself is an ever evolving work of art telling the story of beauty, techniques, materials and people”
-Simon Keller, Japanese-trained artist
